Fifth Edition of Sheikh Zayed Festival Underway in Abu Dhabi with Theme ‘Hayyakum’
- Event Overview:
The fifth edition of the Sheikh Zayed Festival is currently underway at the Al Wathba grounds in Abu Dhabi, attracting thousands of visitors since its inauguration on 1 November 2025. The festival will continue until 22 March 2026 under the theme “Hayyakum” (Welcome). - Objective:
The festival celebrates and preserves the legacy of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and highlights Emirati cultural identity through heritage, arts, and innovation. - Organisation and Patronage:
- Established in 2021, the festival has grown into one of the largest cultural and entertainment gatherings in the region.
- It is held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
- The event features over 4,000 events, 750 major performances, and participation from 22 countries.
- Cultural Highlights:
- The Heritage Village forms the central attraction, recreating traditional Emirati life across four zones — mountain, agricultural, marine, and desert.
- Displays include falconry, Al Sadu weaving, dhow sailing, pearl diving, and Bedouin crafts.
- Competitions such as the Zayed Grand Camel Race and Falconry Championship celebrate Emirati traditions.
- The Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Pavilion promotes sustainable farming practices rooted in heritage.
- International Participation:
- The India Pavilion showcases Kathak performances, henna artistry, and exhibitions of textiles, spices, and Ayurveda — reflecting strong India–UAE cultural ties.
- Other global pavilions enhance cross-cultural understanding and tourism.
- Evening Attractions:
- Visitors enjoy synchronized water and laser shows at the Emirates Fountain.
- Drone shows featuring up to 6,000 drones display national symbols and heritage motifs.
- Fireworks conclude the nightly celebrations.
