International Day of Older Persons 2025 Celebrated in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh

• The Department of Social Justice & Empowerment (MoSJE), in collaboration with the Government of Uttar Pradesh, organized the International Day of Older Persons 2025 celebration at the DIET Auditorium, Badaun.

• The celebration in Badaun reflected India’s continued commitment to elder care, combining policy outreach, cultural awareness, and community engagement.
• The Minister emphasized the importance of senior citizens in maintaining the family structure and the need to address their concerns promptly through government initiatives.
• Various ongoing welfare programmes were highlighted, including the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY), Elderline 14567 Helpline, and the Senior Citizens Welfare Portal.
• Shri Verma also mentioned the establishment of Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendras, aimed at providing assistive devices and services for the elderly and persons with disabilities.
• The event served to promote intergenerational bonding, community participation, and awareness about elder rights and care.

1. Tree Plantation Drive:
   • Conducted under the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” to promote environmental responsibility and emotional connection.
2. Cultural Performances:
   • School students presented performances dedicated to the theme “Ageing with Dignity.”

   • Performed by the Ashmita Group (NSD), raising awareness about the rights and dignity of senior citizens.

   • Administered by Sh. B.L. Verma, reaffirming the collective responsibility of citizens towards elder care.
6. Distribution under RVY:
   • Beneficiaries received assistive devices under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana.
7. Walkathon:
   • Elders and children walked together, symbolising intergenerational harmony and mutual respect.
