PM to Inaugurate and Lay Foundation of Development Projects Worth ₹18,200 Crore in Bihar and West Bengal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar and West Bengal on August 22, 2025, to launch multiple infrastructure, connectivity, health, and power projects. The initiatives, collectively valued at over ₹18,200 crore, are aimed at boosting economic growth, easing travel, and improving quality of life in the two states.
Bihar Highlights (₹13,000 crore projects)
- Connectivity & Roads:
- Inauguration of the 8.15 km Aunta–Simaria Bridge on NH-31, including a 1.86 km six-lane bridge over the Ganga (₹1,870 crore).
- Four-lane Bakhtiyarpur–Mokama section of NH-31 (₹1,900 crore).
- Upgradation of Bikramganj–Dawath–Nawanagar–Dumraon section of NH-120.
- Power:
- Dedication of Buxar Thermal Power Plant (660×1 MW, ₹6,880 crore) to strengthen electricity supply in Bihar.
- Healthcare:
- Inauguration of the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Muzaffarpur, equipped with advanced oncology facilities.
- Urban & Sanitation:
- Munger Sewerage Treatment Plant & Network under Namami Gange (₹520 crore).
- Foundation for urban infrastructure projects worth ₹1,260 crore across Bodhgaya, Jamui, Aurangabad, Jehanabad, and Lakhisarai.
- Railways & Housing:
- Flagging off Amrit Bharat Express (Gaya–Delhi) and Buddhist Circuit Train (Vaishali–Koderma).
- Distribution of keys under PMAY-Urban and PMAY-Gramin for 16,000 families.
West Bengal Highlights (₹5,200 crore projects)
- Metro Rail Expansion(13.61 km new sections):
- Noapara–Jai Hind Bimanbandar line.
- Sealdah–Esplanade line.
- Beleghata–Hemanta Mukhopadhyay section.
- PM Modi to undertake a metro ride from Jessore Road to Jai Hind Bimanbandar.
- Other Infrastructure:
- Inauguration of Howrah Metro Station subway.
- Foundation stone for six-lane elevated Kona Expressway, Howrah (₹1,200 crore) to improve connectivity with Kolkata and adjoining areas.
