Sugamya Bharat App
Context:
The Sugamya Bharat App (SBA) is an initiative under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Launched in 2021, the app aims to enhance accessibility for divyangjan (persons with disabilities) and elderly citizens across India. Recently, the app has been revamped to improve user experience and introduce advanced digital features.
Key Features:
- Reporting Accessibility Barriers: Users can upload geo-tagged photos of locations with accessibility issues, enabling authorities to take timely corrective action.
- Public Infrastructure Monitoring: Reports cover buildings, transportation systems, and ICT platforms (websites, TV systems).
- AI-Powered Assistance: Includes a chatbot to guide users in real-time.
- Multilingual Support: Available in 10 languages to ensure inclusivity.
- Notifications & Updates: Provides circulars and updates on government initiatives and schemes related to accessibility.
