The Bihar Government, in collaboration with the Union Government, inaugurated a Technology Centre at Bihta (Patna) along with four Extension Centres located at Muzaffarpur, Rohtas, Darbhanga, and Munger. The initiative aims to strengthen the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) ecosystem by providing advanced technical training, consultancy services, product development support, and market linkages. During the event, the State Government also reiterated its commitment to attract ₹5 lakh crore in investments and create 1 crore jobs and employment opportunities for Bihar's youth.
The inauguration of the Technology Centre and four extension centres marks an important step towards strengthening Bihar's industrial ecosystem through technology-driven skill development and MSME capacity building. These centres are intended to bridge the gap between traditional manufacturing and modern industrial practices by offering technical assistance, product improvement, and entrepreneurship support. The newly established facilities will primarily cater to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by providing technical training, consultancy services, product design support, quality improvement, packaging solutions, and marketing assistance. The focus on improving product quality and facilitating national and international market access is expected to enhance the competitiveness of Bihar's MSMEs.According to the announcement, youth undergoing training at these centres will receive recognized diplomas and degrees, thereby improving their employability and creating a skilled workforce aligned with industry requirements. This complements Bihar's broader objective of expanding skill development and promoting employment-oriented industrialization. The Chief Minister also announced that the State Cabinet had recently approved ₹200 crore for establishing an Artificial Intelligence Research Centre at IIT Bihta, reflecting Bihar's growing emphasis on emerging technologies alongside conventional manufacturing. The government further indicated plans to establish another Technology Centre in Gaya and requested the Union Government to approve 10 additional Technology Centres across Bihar, signalling a long-term strategy for industrial decentralization.During the programme, beneficiaries of several flagship schemes—including PM Vishwakarma Yojana, Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), National SC/ST Hub Scheme, and Gram Udyog Vikas Yojana—received toolkits, certificates, and financial assistance, highlighting the government's integrated approach towards entrepreneurship promotion, traditional artisans, and marginalized communities. The government reiterated its larger economic vision of attracting ₹5 lakh crore in investment and generating 1 crore jobs and employment opportunities, positioning MSMEs as one of the principal drivers of Bihar's industrial growth and inclusive development.
