BEML Rail Hub, Raisen

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone of the ₹1,800 crore BEML Rail Hub at Umaria village, Raisen district, Madhya Pradesh. The facility covers over 60 hectares and has been named “Brahma” after the Indian creator deity.

Omkareshwar Floating Solar Park

The Omkareshwar Floating Solar Park in Khandwa district, Madhya Pradesh is the largest floating solar park in India and one of the largest in Asia. It has a total capacity of 600 MW, out of which 278 MW has been commissioned.

Surya Mitra Krishi Feeder Scheme

Madhav Infra Projects Limited received multiple Letters of Award from Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (MPUVNL) for setting up grid-connected solar PV power plants under the Surya Mitra Krishi Feeder Scheme, aligned with PM-KUSUM Component-C. The total project value is approximately ₹342 crore.

India’s First Green Hydrogen Hub

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for India’s first Green Hydrogen Hub at Pudimadaka near Visakhapatnam on 8 January 2025. India’s non-fossil fuel capacity target is 500 GW by 2030.

Khelo India Water Sports

The Khelo India Water Sports concluded at Dal Lake, Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir. Madhya Pradesh topped the medal tally with 18 medals, including 10 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze.

Shikhar Khel Alankaran Samaroh 2025

Madhya Pradesh is set to organise the Shikhar Khel Alankaran Samaroh 2025 in Bhopal, where Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will felicitate sportspersons, coaches and medal winners of the 38th National Games 2025.

Vikram Award

The Vikram Award is the highest sporting honour of Madhya Pradesh. It was instituted on 15 May 1990 and is given to senior athletes for outstanding performance at national and international levels. It includes a citation and cash prize of ₹2 lakh.

Sachin Bhargo, a Kho Kho player from Madhya Pradesh, received the Vikram Award 2023 for his performance at national and international levels, including participation in the Kho Kho World Cup 2025

Bhawna Dehariya is linked with the Vikram Award for her Mount Everest feat, but the 2023 award was kept on hold after a High Court stay due to challenges by other mountaineers. The dispute involved claims related to Everest summits by Bhawna Dehariya, Megha Parmar, and other petitioners.Two Paralympians from Madhya Pradesh, Kapil Parmar and Prachi Yadav, announced their decision to return their Arjuna Awards, citing delay in promised government jobs and lack of institutional support.


3. Wildlife, Environment and Protected Areas

Panna Tiger Reserve and Vatsala

Asia’s oldest elephant Vatsala, aged over 100 years, died at Panna Tiger Reserve. Her long survival despite loss of eyesight and leg injuries reflects effective veterinary and habitat management.

Panna Tiger Reserve is located in Madhya Pradesh. It was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1994 under Project Tiger. It is known for successful tiger reintroduction after losing all tigers in 2009. It lies in the Vindhya mountain range and forms part of the Ken River basin.Panna National Park lies in Panna and Chhatarpur districts.

Asian Elephant

The Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus indicus) is listed as Endangered under the IUCN Red List and included in Schedule I of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. India holds over 60% of the global population of Asian elephants.Important elephant reserves include Nilgiri, Periyar, Kaziranga and Wayanad. Gaj Yatra and the National Elephant Corridor Project aim to reduce human-elephant conflict and ensure habitat connectivity.

Madhav National Park Wildlife Corridor

Madhav National Park in Shivpuri has been developed as a critical wildlife corridor connecting Panna Tiger Reserve and Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. It is linked with a 355 sq km tiger reserve for genetic exchange.

Waterfalls

Bahuti Waterfall is the highest waterfall in Madhya Pradesh, with a height of approximately 198 metres. Chachai Waterfall is located on the Beehad/Bihad River, a tributary of the Tamsa/Tons River.


4. Women, Social Issues and Governance

Crimes Against Women in India, 2024

The National Commission for Women (NCW) received 12,648 complaints in 2024 till June. Categories included harassment, domestic violence, dowry harassment, molestation, police apathy, rape, sexual harassment, cybercrime, stalking and honour crimes.

The highest category was Right to Dignity / non-domestic harassment with 3,567 complaints, followed by domestic violence with 3,213, dowry harassment with 1,963, and molestation with 821.

Women’s Safety Data

NCRB 2022 recorded 4,45,256 cases of crimes against women, showing a 4% increase from the previous year. The crime rate was 66.4 per lakh women. Regional variation included Delhi 144.4, Haryana 118.7 and Telangana 117.6 per lakh.

Women in Prison Consultation

The NCW inaugurated the 9th National Consultation on Law Relating to Women in Prison at Sri Vijaya Puram, focusing on systemic reforms for rights, dignity and welfare of women inmates.

Rohini Kalam

Rohini Kalam, an international Jujitsu player, Asian Championship bronze medallist and IPS aspirant, was found dead at her residence in Dewas. Initial police findings suggested suicide, though investigation was ongoing. She had won bronze at the 8th Asian Jujitsu Championship, Abu Dhabi.


5. Governance, Awards and Digital Initiatives

Cyber Tehsil

Madhya Pradesh’s Cyber Tehsil initiative won the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2023. The award was given to the Revenue Department and was received by Vivek Porwal at the Civil Services Day ceremony in New Delhi.

PM Awards 2024

Two IAS officers from Madhya Pradesh, Rahul Haridas Fating and Neha Meena, received the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2024. Jhabua Collector Neha Meena is specifically linked with the award.

SAMPADA 2.0

SAMPADA 2.0, Madhya Pradesh’s digital land registration platform, won the National e-Governance Gold Award 2025 under the category of Government Process Re-engineering through use of technology for digital transformation.

National Awards for e-Governance 2025

The National Awards for e-Governance 2025 recognised 19 projects/initiatives across 6 categories. A major feature was the inclusion of Gram Panchayats as a separate category for the first time.The six categories were:

  • Government Process Re-engineering using technology
  • Innovation using AI and new-age technologies
  • Cybersecurity innovations
  • Grassroots digital initiatives in ULBs and Panchayats
  • Replication and scaling of successful projects
  • Data analytics-based digital transformation

The awards were linked to the 28th National Conference on e-Governance. Incentives included ₹10 lakh for Gold and ₹5 lakh for Silver. Recognised initiatives included Mining Tenement System, Multi Hazard Early Warning System, and SAMPADA 2.0.

MP e-Seva Portal

Madhya Pradesh was recognised as a Top Achiever State in key business reform areas under BRAP 2024. Through the MP e-Seva Portal, over 1,700 services across 56 departments are integrated on a single platform.

MP Waqf Board

The Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board received the SKOCH Award for digital innovation in record management.

State Creators Awards

The Madhya Pradesh Government announced State Creators Awards during the Bhopal Creators Summit 2025, aiming to recognise digital creators and use their role in governance awareness, development messaging and the emerging Orange Economy.

Abhyuday Madhya Pradesh Quiz

The Chief Minister honoured winners of the Abhyuday Madhya Pradesh Quiz to promote youth awareness and scientific learning.

Sheela Dahima

IAS officer Sheela Dahima received the Chief Minister’s Excellence Award for Innovation in Madhya Pradesh. The benefit included a cash prize of ₹1 lakh and a certificate.

BRAP and Ease of Doing Business

Several states and UTs were recognised as Top Achievers in Ease of Doing Business 2024 under the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) framework. BRAP 2024 is implemented by DPIIT under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.The historical trajectory of BRAP began in 2014, with editions in 2015, 2016, 2017–18, 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2024.

PM Jan Dhan Accounts

Around 23% of total 56.04 crore PM Jan Dhan accounts were inoperative. State-wise inoperative accounts were: Uttar Pradesh 2.75 crore, Bihar 1.39 crore, and Madhya Pradesh 1.07 crore.

National Highways

Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I was approved in 2017 to develop 34,800 km of National Highways with focus on economic corridors, border connectivity and expressways. As of February 2025, 26,425 km had been awarded and 19,826 km constructed.India’s NH network expanded from 91,287 km in 2014 to 1,46,342 km by June 2025, an increase of 55,055 km. Access-controlled expressways/high-speed corridors increased from 93 km in 2014 to 5,110 km, out of which 2,636 km are operational.

GSDP and Unemployment

Madhya Pradesh ranked 10th among state-wise economic powerhouses, with projected GSDP of ₹15.22 lakh crore, GDP per capita of ₹1.56 lakh, and 4.5% share in national GDP.PLFS 2023–24 recorded India’s youth unemployment rate at 10.2%, with male unemployment at 9.8%, female unemployment at 11%, and overall unemployment at 3.2%.

Tourism Awards

Madhya Pradesh won the Best State Tourism Award at SATTE 2025 held at Yashobhoomi IICC. The state was also honoured with the Best State Tourism Board Award at the India Travel Awards 2025 in New Delhi, presented by Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board received the Golden Banyan Award in the Best State – Heritage Tourism category at the Heritage Week Awards 2025.

Vikramotsav

Madhya Pradesh received the WOW Awards Asia Gold Award 2025 for Vikramotsav 2025, organised in Ujjain. The 16th edition was held at Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai.Vikramotsav celebrates historical pride, cultural identity and India’s civilisational continuity. It received recognition as “Longstanding IP of the Year” at the EMAXIM Global Awards 2025. Its objective is to establish global cultural branding of Ujjain.During Vikramotsav 2026, the Madhya Pradesh Government announced:

  • Emperor Vikramaditya International Award – ₹1.01 crore
  • National Award – ₹21 lakh
  • State Awards – ₹5 lakh each

State Shikhar Samman

The Madhya Pradesh Government organised the State Shikhar Samman Awards at Bharat Bhavan, where 15 personalities across nine disciplines in art, culture and literature were honoured. The event also announced the revival of Rangmandal, a historic theatre repertory. The award carries ₹2 lakh and a citation.

National Lata Mangeshkar Award

Madhya Pradesh conferred the National Lata Mangeshkar Award 2025 on Sonu Nigam in Indore.

National Kishore Kumar Award

Prasoon Joshi received the National Kishore Kumar Award 2024 for film songwriting. The ceremony was held in Khandwa, the birthplace of Kishore Kumar.

National Tansen Award

The Madhya Pradesh Government announced Pt Raja Kale for the National Tansen Award 2024 and Tarun Bhattacharya for the National Tansen Award 2025. The awards will be presented during the 101st Tansen Samaroh in Gwalior.

Veer Singh Dev National Award

Hindi novelist and journalist Dayanand Pandey received the Veer Singh Dev National Award from the Madhya Pradesh Sahitya Akademi for his novel Vipsyana Mein Prem. He was honoured in Bhopal with a citation, shawl and ₹1 lakh.

Padma Shri 2025 and 2026

Five personalities from Madhya Pradesh were awarded Padma Shri 2025:

  • Bheru Singh Chouhan – devotional folk singer, known as “Nirgun Bhakti ke Bheru”
  • Jagdish Joshila – Nimadi novelist and pioneer of Nimadi prose
  • Sally Holkar – social entrepreneur from Khargone, linked with revival of Maheshwari handloom
  • Dr. Budhendra Kumar Jain – associated with Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya
  • Harchandan Singh Bhatty – artist from Bhopal, linked with Bharat Bhavan

For Padma Shri 2026, the Government of India recognised 54 individuals, including 3 from Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh environmentalist Mohan Nagar was conferred the Padma Shri Award 2026.

Pride of Madhya Pradesh 2025

The Pride of Madhya Pradesh 2025 felicitation ceremony was held at Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre, Bhopal, where CM Mohan Yadav honoured personalities from industry, business, art, literature, music and sports.

ODOP Award

Madhya Pradesh secured the Silver Medal in the ODOP Awards 2024 under the States and UT category. The award was presented at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi by Union Minister Piyush Goyal. Highlighted products included Banana from Burhanpur, Basmati rice from Raisen, and Chinor rice from Balaghat.


9. National and International Awards

Educate Girls

Educate Girls received the 2025 Ramon Magsaysay Award, becoming the first Indian non-profit organisation to receive the honour. It was founded in 2007 by Safeena Husain and works on girls’ education and gender equality.

National Handicrafts Awards

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, conferred the National Handicrafts Awards 2023 and 2024 in New Delhi. Total awards included 12 Shilp Guru Awards and 36 National Awards.

Two sisters from Madhya Pradesh, Dr Ruma Bhargava and Dr Megha Bhargava, received the Forbes India We Serve India Award 2025 in the Women-Led Social Innovation category for rural development through Samarpan NGO, founded in 2015.Dr Ruma Bhargava is Global Health Lead at the World Economic Forum, Geneva. Dr Megha Bhargava is an IRS officer and Additional Commissioner of Income Tax.

National Water Awards

At the Watershed Mahotsav in Bhopal, CM Mohan Yadav congratulated district administrations after recognition at the 6th National Water Awards in New Delhi.Madhya Pradesh secured:

  • Water Conservation – People’s Participation Initiative, West Zone – Khandwa, First Prize

Swachh Vayu Survekshan 2025

Angul city in Odisha secured 3rd rank in the National Clean Air City category for population below 3 lakh under Swachh Vayu Survekshan 2025, conducted by MoEFCC under NCAP. Angul received ₹12.50 lakh, was recognised for the second time after 2023, and was the only Odisha city in the top three.

Miyana Railway Station

Miyana Railway Station, Guna, Madhya Pradesh, won the National Energy Conservation Award 2025 as the Best Performing Unit in the Transport Category – Railway Station.


11. NITI Aayog, Development Campaigns and Social Progress

Sampurnata Abhiyan

Madhya Pradesh led NITI Aayog’s Sampurnata Abhiyan, aimed at 100% saturation of key development indicators. Districts such as Barwani, Damoh, Dhar, Khandwa, Tikamgarh, Niwari and Vidisha achieved high or complete saturation. Pati block in Barwani achieved 100% performance across all six indicators.

Multidimensional Poverty

More than 24.8 crore people moved out of multidimensional poverty in India between 2013–14 and 2022–23. MPI declined from 29.17% to 11.28%. The largest reductions were seen in Uttar Pradesh (5.94 crore), Bihar (3.77 crore) and Madhya Pradesh (2.30 crore).

Bhimbetka

Bhimbetka belongs to the Stone Age and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2003. It was discovered by V. S. Wakankar and is located in the Ratapani Tiger Reserve area. It is especially known for the maximum cave paintings of the Mesolithic period in Madhya Pradesh.


13. Ancient and Medieval History of Madhya Pradesh

Huna and Yashodharman

Mihirkula, son of Toramana, had his capital at Sakala/Sialkot. Toramana was defeated by Prakashadharma, while Mihirkula was defeated by Yashodharman. The Sondani inscription is related to Yashodharman and is famous for the defeat of Mihirkula.

Parmara Dynasty

The Parmaras are linked with Mount Abu and the Agnikunda theory. The founder was Upendra/Krishnaraja, while the first independent ruler was Siyaka.Siyaka II established an independent Malwa state after defeating Rashtrakuta king Khotig in 972 AD. He made Dhar his capital and captured Manyakhet, strengthening Parmara prestige.The extent of Siyaka II’s empire is given as:

  • North – Jhalawar
  • South – Tapi
  • East – Bhelsa
  • West – Sabarmati

Munja died on the banks of the Godavari River. Sindhuraja had the titles Nava Sahasanka and Kumar Narayana. He was the father of Raja Bhoj, and his wife Shashi Prabha was described as a Naga princess.Raja Bhoj was the scholar king of Dhar. In the Udaypur Prashasti, he was given the title Kaviraj. It is stated that he wrote around 84 books, mostly in Sanskrit. Samarangana Sutradhara deals with architecture.Udayaditya built the Udayeshwara Temple at Udaypur. He also built Uday Sagar Lake in Udaypur, Vidisha district, and famous Jain temples at Un in Khargone district.

Kalachuri Dynasty

The capital of the Kalachuri dynasty was Tripuri. The founder was Kokalla I. Al-Biruni described Gangeyadeva.

Chandela Dynasty

The Chandelas worshipped Maniya Devi, and their origin is linked to Maniyagarh in Chhatarpur. They are famous for Khajuraho temples, built in Panchayatan style.Dhanga Deva took the title Kalinjaradhipati. He constructed the Parshvanath Temple, Vishwanath Temple and Ghantai Temple, and shifted the capital from Khajuraho to Kalinjar.Ganda Deva built the Jagdambi Temple and Chitragupta Temple. Vidyadhara Chandela faced Mahmud of Ghazni and also defeated Raja Bhoj and Gangeyadeva. His wife was Satyabhama.

Malwa Sultanate and Bhopal

The founder of the Malwa Sultanate was Dilawar Khan Ghuri. Hoshang Shah was his successor. Mahmud Khalji founded the Khalji dynasty in Malwa. Baz Bahadur was a later ruler and his real name was Miyan Bayazid. He was the son of Sujat Khan. Nasiruddin Mahmud Khalji is associated with Kaliyadeh Mahal.The founder of Bhopal State was Dost Mohammad Khan, who founded it in 1723. He fought the Battle of Lal Ghati against Naval Shah, the son of Rani Kamlapati.Built by Dost Mohammad Khan:

Important Inscriptions

Mandsaur/Dashpur inscription is associated with the Olikara dynasty, feudatories of Kumaragupta I. The Mandsaur Prashasti was composed by Vatsabhatti in the court of Bandhuvarman.The Mandsaur inscription also mentions the silk weavers’ guilds. It records that silk weavers came from the Lata region of Gujarat, built a Sun Temple, reconstructed it, and described their silk garments as of the finest quality. It is also referred to as the world’s first advertisement. Another poet Vasula was associated with the court of Yashodharman.Other important facts:

The Charan Paduka Massacre took place at Naugaon, Chhatarpur district, on 14 January 1931. It is known as the Jallianwala Bagh of Madhya Pradesh. Captain Fisher ordered firing on the crowd on the banks of the Urmil River. Halki Kurmi, Ramlal Kurmi and Dharamdas Khairwa were martyred.

1. Indian Polity and Constitution

Supreme Court Original Jurisdiction and Inter-State Water Disputes

Under Article 131, the Supreme Court has original jurisdiction in disputes between the Centre and one or more States, between the Centre and State(s) on one side and one or more States on the other, and between two or more States.

However, inter-state water disputes are an exception. They do not directly fall under Supreme Court’s original jurisdiction because they are governed by Article 262 of the Constitution. Parliament can exclude the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court in such matters. Such disputes are covered under the Inter-State Water Disputes Act, 1956 and are decided by special tribunals.

Impeachment of the President of India

To initiate the impeachment process against the President of India, signatures of one-fourth members of the impeaching House are required. The impeaching House may be either the Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha.

PARTH Scheme

The PARTH Scheme aims to provide complete pre-recruitment training to youth for the army, police and paramilitary forces. Chitrakoot Dham and Ram Van Gaman Path

LPG Import Agreement with the US

India signed its first-ever long-term contract to import LPG from the United States. India currently imports around 10% of its annual LPG requirement from the US under this deal.

CPI Inflation

All-India headline inflation, CPI General, fell to 0.25% year-on-year in October 2025 provisional data. Food inflation, CFPI, declined to -5.02%, the lowest in the current CPI series. The fall was due to the full-month impact of GST reduction, favourable base effects, and lower prices of oils and fats, vegetables, fruits, eggs, and transport and communication. November 2025 CPI release was scheduled for 12 December 2025.

Insurance Premiums

Life insurance premiums grew by 12.06% to ₹34,007 crore in October 2025, supported by GST waiver on individual and health insurance plans. The non-life segment, excluding standalone health insurers, grew only 1.72%. The zero per cent GST exemption applies only to individual life and health policies, not group or employer-sponsored schemes.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology approved the first tranche of seven applications under the Electronic Components Manufacturing Scheme, involving investment of ₹5,532 crore.

Rare Earths and Monazite

India has one of the largest monazite deposits in the world, mainly along the eastern and southern coastal sands. Biomagnification

Biomagnification is the process in which certain pollutants increase in concentration as they move up the food chain. Persistent organic pollutants such as DDT are common contributors because they accumulate in organisms over time.

Vulture Census in MP

The winter phase of the vulture census took place from 17–19 February 2025, and the summer census was scheduled for 29 April 2025. Madhya Pradesh recorded 12,981 vultures during the winter count. The census is conducted twice a year. The first census was conducted in 2016.

Kodo Millet

Madhya Pradesh is the largest producer of Kodo millet in India. It is also grown in Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

Berach River
