Six sites added to India’s tentative list by UNESCO’s World Heritage Centre

Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat informed the Lok Sabha that six sites have been added to India’s Tentative List by UNESCO’s World Heritage Centre.With these additions, India now has 62 sites on the Tentative List, which serves as an inventory of properties that a country intends to consider for nomination to the UNESCO World Heritage List.The six newly added sites are:
  1. Mudumal Megalithic Menhirs – Telangana
  2. Palace-Fortresses of the Bundelas – Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh
  3. Kanger Valley National Park – Chhattisgarh
  4. Ashokan Edict Sites along the Mauryan Routes – Multiple States
  5. Chausath Yogini Temples – Multiple States
  6. Gupta Temples in North India – Multiple States
The inclusion of these sites reflects India’s continued efforts to strengthen its cultural and natural heritage portfolio at the global level.
