• Share of Total Road Network: 70.69%.

• These five states account for 43.52% of total rural roads in India.

• Total Surfaced Rural Roads (including JRY): 58.21% of total rural road network.

• Lowest Surfaced %: Assam 23.23%, Arunachal Pradesh 55.53%, Meghalaya 39.75%, Nagaland 42.98%.

• These five states account for 51.32% of total surfaced district roads in India.

2.2 Fully Surfaced District Roads

• Fully surfaced in: Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Haryana, Jharkhand, Bihar, Punjab, Goa, Tripura.
• Union Territories: fully surfaced.
• North Eastern States with low surfaced %: Sikkim 49.87%, Arunachal Pradesh 54.55%, Nagaland 56.79%.

3. State Highways (SH)

• Most states have fully surfaced state highways.

4. National Highways (NH)

• Total NH Length in India: 1,32,995 km (all surfaced, including expressways).
