🚜 Bihar: Certain Farmers Will Not Benefit from PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana
Patna, December 28, 2024:
The Bihar government has issued new guidelines for the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, which may prevent some farmers from receiving benefits.
Key Points:
- From January 2025, only farmers who own land in their own name will be eligible to register for the scheme.
- The registration number based on the landowner’s name will determine eligibility for the benefit payment.
- In Bihar, 30–40% of farmers’ land is still registered under ancestors’ names. These farmers may be excluded from receiving the PM-KISAN benefit.
- Non-landholding farmers (gair raiyat) will not be eligible.
Pilot Registration Program:
- The Agriculture Department has started pilot registrations in 10 revenue villages across Bhagalpur, Gaya, Purnia, East Champaran, and Saran.
- Selected farmers from villages such as Babu Pur, Bara (Pirpanti, Bhagalpur), Bariyarpur (Motihari), and Bankat have begun registration.
Authority Statement:
- Dhananjaypati Tripathi, nodal officer for PM-KISAN, stated that only farmers whose land is in their name will receive benefits under the scheme.
