🛣 Bihar: 33,500+ km Roads Built Under Mukhyamantri Gram Sampark Yojana
Patna, July 18, 2025:
The Bihar government has completed the construction of 33,540 km of rural roads under the Mukhyamantri Gram Sampark Yojana (MMGSY), connecting 23,886 villages with all-weather pucca roads.
Why this scheme?
- The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) covers habitations with a population of 500 or more.
- To ensure smaller habitations also get connectivity, Bihar launched MMGSY in 2013.
- Aim: No village/hamlet should remain unconnected.
Progress:
- Administrative approval granted for 42,022 km roads.
- About 78% projects completed so far.
- Muzaffarpur tops the list with 2,329 km roads, followed by Madhubani (2,207 km), Araria (2,127 km), and East Champaran (1,885 km).

Purnea – 1,695 km,
Katihar – 1,506 km,
Saran – 1,441 km,
Darbhanga – 1,405 km,
West Champaran – 1,231 km,
Gopalganj – 1,206 km.
