Occasion: Laos serving as ASEAN ChairSCO Participation:

• Official: Zhang Ming, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO)
• Purpose: Attended as a guest to strengthen SCO–ASEAN ties and regional cooperation

1. Interconnectivity & Economic Integration:
   • Highlighted advantages of deeper regional connectivity.
   • SCO is actively engaged in economic development, political, and cultural cooperation in Eurasia.
2. SCO–ASEAN Relations:
   • SCO has established close partnership relations with ASEAN states.
   • Cooperation aims at common prosperity and equal access to benefits.
   • Current cooperation does not entail full economic integration, but steps are being taken toward regional economic harmonisation.
3. Call for Collaboration:
   • Encouraged SCO, ASEAN, and East Asian countries to:
     • Enhance political interaction
     • Promote cultural exchanges
     • Strengthen interconnectivity
   • Objective: contribute to long-term regional security and prosperity

Summit Highlights:

• Inaugurated by: Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone
• Attendees: Leaders and senior officials from China, Russia, India, South Korea, Japan, USA, Australia, New Zealand, and others
• Special Guests: SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming, President of the European Council
• Other Activities: Zhang Ming attended a gala reception hosted by the Lao PM

• Reinforces SCO’s role in Eurasian–East Asian connectivity
