India is hosting the 1st BIMSTEC Youth Summit in Gandhinagar, Gujarat from 7–11 February 2025, as an initiative to strengthen youth-driven regional cooperation among BIMSTEC nations.
🔑 Key Highlights
- Inauguration: 8 February 2025 by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya (Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports), Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel (CM, Gujarat), Smt. Raksha Khadse (MoS, Youth Affairs), and Shri Jaideep Mazumdar (Secretary East, MEA).
- Theme: “Youth as a Bridge for Intra-BIMSTEC Exchange”.
- Participation: 70+ youth delegates from all 7 BIMSTEC countries – Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. Delegates include ministers, MPs, mayors, entrepreneurs, cultural leaders, and influencers.
- Organisers: Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports + Ministry of External Affairs; CII YI as knowledge partner.
🎯 Objectives
- Encourage youth leadership in tackling regional economic, social, and developmental challenges.
- Provide a platform for strategic exchanges empowering young voices.
- Strengthen regional cooperation in entrepreneurship, technology, cyberspace, connectivity, and sustainable development.
