- Inaugurated at: Okhla Vihar Metro Station (on metro viaduct)
- By: Shri Manohar Lal, Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs & Power
- Significance:
- First-of-its-kind vertical bi-facial solar panel system in India
- Captures sunlight from both sides
- Mounted on metro viaduct, thus no additional land required
- Innovative use of elevated metro structure for clean energy
☀️ Rooftop Solar Plant
- Location: Khyber Pass Metro Depot
- Capacity: 1 MW rooftop solar power plant
🌍 Broader Significance
- DMRC is a pioneer in solar power integration and energy-efficient metro systems
- Indian metro networks (Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune) have received IGBC green certificationsfor:
- Energy-efficient station designs
- Use of green building materials
- Solar rooftop systems
- Regenerative braking systems to conserve energy
