Aamir Khan Becomes First Star to Receive RK Laxman Excellence Award

- Aamir Khan has been announced as the first recipient of the newly instituted RK Laxman Award for Excellence, launched by the family of the late legendary cartoonist RK Laxman.
- The award aims to honour the artistic brilliance and social insight that defined Laxman’s illustrious career, celebrating individuals who have made a profound cultural or creative impact.
- The launch event will be held on November 23, 2025, at the MCA Cricket Stadium, Pune, and will feature a live concert by music maestro AR Rahman.
- Usha Laxman, daughter-in-law of RK Laxman, stated that the event is intended not just as a musical celebration but as a tribute to RK Laxman’s timeless contribution to Indian art, storytelling, and humour.
- The Laxman family described Aamir Khan as the ideal choice for the inaugural honour, citing his dedication, creativity, and perfectionism in filmmaking and acting as qualities that resonate with Laxman’s legacy.

- About RK Laxman:- Regarded as one of India’s most iconic cartoonists, Rasipuram Krishnaswamy Laxman (1921–2015) was celebrated for his wit, satire, and visual commentary on Indian society.
- His famed cartoon series “You Said It”, published in The Times of India, featured the enduring character “The Common Man”, a silent observer of India’s social and political landscape.
- RK Laxman also designed the characters for the classic TV series “Malgudi Days”, based on stories by his brother RK Narayan.
