🏥 Mandatory ABHA ID for Patient Registration in Medical Colleges – NMC Directive

🔹 What is ABHA ID?
- ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) is a 14-digit unique health ID under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
- Links a patient’s complete digital medical history, including:
- Prescriptions
- Diagnostic reports
- Consultation history
- ABHA ID enables interoperable and centralized digital health records.
📌 NMC’s Key Directive (July 2025):
- All medical colleges & institutes under National Medical Commission (NMC)must:
- Record ABHA ID for every patient (OPD, IPD, Emergency).
- Ensure ABHA ID and hospital registration number are both entered.
- ⚠️ Treatment cannot be denied in absence of ABHA ID.
🎯 Objective:
- Ensure authenticity of patient records and clinical material in teaching hospitals.
- Support assessment, accreditation, and expansion of medical colleges (UG/PG seats, recognition, renewals).
✅ Compliance Instructions:
- In-patient admissionmust carry name/signature of:
- Unit faculty
- Senior Residents
- Investigative reports to be signed by respective department faculty.
- Fake recordswill attract strict action against:
- Concerned faculty
- College/institute
