The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, inaugurated the S N Bose Building at the Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership (GCNEP) in New Delhi on 18 March 2025.

    • S N Bose Building inaugurated at GCNEP, India’s dedicated centre for nuclear energy R&D and international collaboration.
  • Capacity Building Initiative:
    • Launch of a six-month Certificate Course on Nuclear Engineering aimed at developing future experts in nuclear technology.
  • India’s Role:
    • Strengthens India’s position in global nuclear research, training, and cooperation.
    • GCNEP serves as a hub for advanced nuclear science, radiation technologies, safety, and security studies.

  • Established: 2010, under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).
  • Location: Bahadurgarh, Haryana (HQ), with collaborations in New Delhi.
  • Objective: Promote safe, secure, and sustainable nuclear energy practices.
  • Functions: R&D, training, and fostering global partnerships in nuclear science and technology.

About IAEA

  • HQ: Vienna, Austria.
  • Established: 1957 (under UN framework).
  • Role: Promotes peaceful use of nuclear energy, ensures nuclear safety, security, and safeguards.
