Analysis:

Rapid Growth in Registration: The e-Shram portal has recorded a total of 30.68 crore unorganized sector workers registered so far, reflecting the government’s push to integrate unorganized workers into formal social security schemes.
Women Participation: Women constitute 53.68% of total registrations, amounting to 16.47 crore, while men are 14.42 crore. This indicates a significant increase in women’s participation in the unorganized workforce across India.
State-wise Distribution:
- Uttar Pradesh leads with over 8.38 crore workers registered.
- Bihar follows with more than 2.97 crore registrations.
- Lakshadweep has the lowest registration numbers.
  This highlights the concentration of unorganized sector labor in large population states and the limited reach in smaller regions.
Portal Objectives: Launched on October 21, 2024, the e-Shram–“One-Stop-Solution” aims to consolidate social security benefits for unorganized workers in a single platform. Registered workers can now access job opportunities, skill development programs, and 13 government social security schemes efficiently.
Significance: The portal serves as a digital backbone to bring informal sector workers under formal welfare mechanisms, ensuring transparency, better targeting of benefits, and increased participation, especially among women.
