• Occasion: Celebrates the birth anniversary of Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) – 8th century Buddhist master credited with spreading Buddhism in the Himalayan region.
• Theme: Symbolises victory of good over evil.

🌟 Key Features of the Festival

1. Cham Dances (Masked Dances):
   • Performed by monks in elaborate costumes and masks.
   • Depict Buddhist stories and values.
   • Represent struggle between good & evil.
   • Act as meditation, blessings, and teaching tools.
2. Cultural Vibrance:
   • Traditional music with drums, cymbals, and long trumpets.
   • Local fairs with Ladakhi handicrafts, jewellery, and food.
   • Locals wear traditional attire, creating a colourful cultural atmosphere.
