IN NEWS – Himachal Day 2025 Celebrations in Pangi Valley Context:
For the first time ever , the state-level Himachal Day (78th) celebrations were held in the remote Killar, Pangi Valley, Chamba district on 15 April 2025 . CM Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu unfurled the National Flag, addressed the people, and made key developmental announcements. Key Announcements & Initiatives Natural Farming & Agriculture Pangi declared Himachal’s first Natural Farming Sub-Division. ₹5 crore revolving fund for natural farming. MSP of ₹60/kg for naturally grown barley.Milk processing plant (10,000 litre capacity) announced. Agriculture Interest Subvention Scheme – 50% govt. contribution on loan interest (up to ₹3 lakh). MSP for milk raised – cow milk ₹51/litre, buffalo milk ₹61/litre. Infrastructure & Connectivity Roads: Udaipur–Killar road improvement a top priority (tender process advanced).₹45.50 crore for 33 KV line Thirot–Killar. ₹5 crore for 11 KV line Tindi–Shaur. ₹1.5 crore for link roads improvement. Transport & Tourism 20 new bus permits + 40% subsidy on bus purchases. 50% waiver on registration fees for home stays. Four-month exemption from road tax for buses. Education & Health Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School to be opened in Pangi.Civil Hospital, Killar to be upgraded to Adarsh Swasthya Sansthan . Education Department restructured into separate directorates for schools & higher education. ₹1570 crore allocation for modern medical equipment (PET Scan, MRI at IGMC Shimla & Tanda). Energy & Green Initiatives ₹62 crore projects for power strengthening in valley. Himachal to become Green Energy State by 31 March 2026 . 5% interest subsidy for solar energy plants (250 KW – 1 MW) in tribal areas. Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojana – ₹100 crore, livelihood + forest conservation (₹6.4 lakh per group).Governance & Social Development Rajasva Lok Adalats resolved 2.75 lakh mutation cases, 27,000+ demarcation cases. Crackdown on drug menace – strengthening of Anti-Narcotics Task Force, new special task force. Sach to be given Sub-Tehsil status. Funds sanctioned for Mahila Mandal Bhawans. Symbolic Importance Historic first celebration in Pangi Valley , reflecting commitment to tribal regions’ welfare . Tribute to Indira Gandhi (first PM to visit Pangi, 1984) and Dr. Y.S. Parmar (first CM of Himachal Pradesh) . Strong signal of inclusive governance and regional equity in development.
