ICAR-KVK Wokha awarded Best KVK in North Eastern Region
- Context: The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Wokha, Nagaland, has been awarded the Best KVK in the North Eastern Region by ICAR-NRCB for exemplary contributions in agriculture and allied sectors.
- Event: Award presented during the 32nd Foundation Day and Kisan Mela in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, selected from over 200 nominations.
- Acknowledgement: Thungjano S Ezung, from ICAR-KVK Wokha, dedicated the award to stakeholders in Nagaland’s agri and allied sector.
- Farmer Participation and Training:
- 19 farmers from Nagaland participated in the mela to gain insights for the upcoming banana festival.
- Training in Integrated Nutrient Management, Hi-Tech Banana Cultivation Practices, Integrated Pest and Disease Management, and Food Processing.
- Training to continue in Kerala from 23rd August.
- Significance:
- Highlights the role of KVKs in capacity building and agricultural innovation in North Eastern India.
- Supports farmer empowerment, skill development, and adoption of modern agri practices
