India to Host Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy 2025

Context:

• For the first time, India will host the biggest international winter sports event: the Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy 2025.
• Venue: Maharana Pratap Sports College, Raipur, Dehradun
• Dates: 20–23 August 2025

Participation & Events:

• More than 11 Asian countries participating, including China, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, and India
• 9 events ranging from 222-meter sprint to 5000-meter relay

Significance:

• Marks India’s growing footprint in winter sports
• Provides international exposure to Indian athletes
• Encourages sports tourism and development of winter sports infrastructure in India
