- Indian Navy to Commission Two Frontline Frigates: INS Udaygiri and INS Himgiri will be commissioned simultaneously on 26th August at Visakhapatnam — marking the first time two major surface combatants from two Indian shipyards will be commissioned together.
- Ship Details:
- INS Udaygiri: Second ship of the Project 17A stealth frigates; built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), Mumbai; 100th ship designed by the Navy’s Warship Design Bureau.
- INS Himgiri: First P17A ship constructed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata.
