INS TRIKAND ARRIVED AT ALEXANDRIA, EGYPT

IN NEWS – INS Trikand Arrives at Alexandria, Egypt for Exercise Bright Star 2025

Indian Naval stealth frigate INS Trikand has arrived at Alexandria, Egypt, during its operational deployment to the Mediterranean Sea.
The ship will take part in Exercise Bright Star 2025, scheduled from 1 to 10 September 2025, hosted by Egypt.
The exercise will also see participation from the Indian Army and Indian Air Force, highlighting the tri-service nature of India’s participation.
Bright Star 2025 is a multilateral exercise under the US Central Command (CENTCOM), focusing on operations across air, land, and sea domains.
The exercise aims to enhance regional security, strengthen interoperability, and counter irregular warfare and hybrid threats.
Participating nations include USA, Egypt, India, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Greece, Cyprus, and Italy, reflecting a wide cooperative framework.
During its port call, INS Trikandwill conduct:
- Discussions with senior military officials
- Cross-deck visits
- Cultural exchanges and sports events to strengthen people-to-people ties
The deployment underscores India’s commitment to maritime security and partnership with Mediterranean nations.
It will also involve professional naval engagements aimed at improving interoperability and sharing Best Practices in combating both traditional and non-traditional maritime threats.

INS Trikand:
- A stealth frigate of the Talwar-class (Type 11356), commissioned in 2013.
- Built in Russia, it is equipped with advanced weapons and sensors for anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine warfare.
Exercise Bright Star:
- One of the largest multilateral military exercises in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
- Conducted biennially and co-hosted by the USA and Egypt since 1980.
- Focuses on joint operations, crisis response, and interoperability among participating nations.
