Maharashtra has successfully implemented ‘Disha Abhiyan’, a uniform and quality education curriculum for students with intellectual disabilities.
Developed by Jai Vakil Foundation and certified by the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID), it is operational in 453 special schools across Maharashtra.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted Maharashtra as the first state to prioritize disabled persons' needs, aligning with PM Modi’s vision of an inclusive, self-reliant ‘Developed India 2047’.
