Mauritius confers its highest honour ‘Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean’ on PM Modi

  • Event: PM Narendra Modi was bestowed with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (GCSK) – Mauritius’ highest civilian honour.
  • Significance:
    • Modi is the first Indian to receive this honour.
    • This is the 21st international honour conferred on him by a foreign country.

    • Award recognises the historic and cultural ties between India and Mauritius.
    • PM Modi addressed the Indian community, underlining the role of Indian-origin people in Mauritius.
