IN NEWS – ‘Muhurthakaal’ Puja for Vaikunta Ekadasi Festival Performed at Srirangam Temple

- The Muhurthakaal Naduthal Puja (installation of a holy wooden pole) was conducted at the Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Tiruchi on October 31, 2025, marking the commencement of preparations for the upcoming Vaikunta Ekadasi festival.
- The ceremony took place in front of the thousand-pillar mandapam within the temple premises.
- The Vaikunta Ekadasi celebrations at Srirangam will begin on December 19 with Thirunedunthaandagam and are divided into two parts — Pagal Pathu and Ira Pathu.
- The Pagal Pathu phase will commence on December 20, while the highlight of the festival, the opening of the “Paramapadavasal” (the Gateway to Heaven), will occur in the early hours of December 30, coinciding with the day of Vaikunta Ekadasi.
- The celebrations will conclude with the ‘Nammazhwar Moksham’ ritual on January 9, 2026.

- Vaikunta Ekadasi is one of the most significant festivals in the Sri Vaishnava tradition, celebrated in honour of Lord Vishnu.
- It falls in the Tamil month of Margazhi (December–January) and is believed to mark the opening of the Vaikunta Dwaram (heavenly gate).
