PM Awas Yojana: बिहार में प्रधानमंत्री आवास की वेटिंग लिस्ट पहुंची 13.50 लाख पार

🏠 PM Awas Yojana: Bihar Waiting List Crosses 13.5 Lakh, New Houses Expected

Patna, August 12, 2024:

The waiting list for PM Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Bihar has crossed 13.5 lakh applicants. Bihar has been waiting for new targets from the central government for the past three financial years (2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25).

Key Points:

  • Despite Giriraj Singh serving as Union Minister for Rural Development earlier, Bihar received minimal allocation under PMAY.
  • In the current financial year (2024-25), Bihar is expected to receive 2.5–3 lakh houses from the central government.
  • SC/ST surveys have not been conducted in Bihar since 2018-19, prompting the state government to request fresh surveys to account for new SC/ST families.

Reasons for Long Waiting List:

  1. Political disruption: BJP was out of power in Bihar for 22 months, delaying implementation.
  2. Pending Utilization Certificates (UCs): ~50,000 houses’ UCs are pending, delaying new allocations.
  3. Incomplete construction: Many beneficiaries either did not complete construction, moved to other states for work, or were affected by floods/disasters, causing issues in disbursing the third installment.
  4. Fund shortage and administrative delays.

State Government Actions:

  • Bihar Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar met Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan requesting at least 6 lakh houses.
  • The state aims to clear pending UCs and conduct fresh surveys to enable smoother allocation.
