PM Modi attends SCO Summit in Tianjin after Japan–China visit

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi after a four-day official visit to Japan and China from August 29 to September 1, 2025.
- During the China leg, he attended the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit held in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1, 2025.
- On the sidelines of the Summit, PM Modi held bilateral meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
- The Prime Minister described the visit as productive and thanked the Chinese leadership and people for the successful organisation of the SCO Summit.
- In his meeting with President Vladimir Putin, PM Modi reiterated that India–Russia cooperation remains vital for global peace, stability, and prosperity.
- Addressing the SCO Summit, PM Modi called for stronger collective action against terror financing and radicalisation.
- Referring to the Pahalgam terror attack, he urged the SCO to hold countries supporting cross-border terrorism accountable.
- PM Modi congratulated Kyrgyzstan on assuming the SCO presidency for the next term.

- PM Modi also interacted with leaders from Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and Eurasia, including those from the Maldives, Nepal, Laos, Vietnam, Armenia, and Turkmenistan, reiterating India’s commitment to expanding multi-sectoral cooperation.
- Prior to the China visit, PM Modi attended the 15th India–Japan Annual Summit in Tokyo on August 29–30, 2025, highlighting continued strengthening of India–Japan relations.
