Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the prestigious ‘Mithra Vibhushana’ medal, the highest civilian honour of Sri Lanka, in recognition of his efforts to deepen India–Sri Lanka relations and promote shared cultural and spiritual heritage.
- Awarded by: President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat, Colombo
- Instituted in: 2008 by then President Mahinda Rajapaksa
- Notable past recipients: Former Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat

- Dharma Chakra → Shared Buddhist heritage
- Pun Kalasa (ceremonial pot with rice) → Prosperity & renewal
