PM Modi Gifts 2000 Laptops, Signs MoUs To Boost India-Trinidad & Tobago Ties

Key Announcements & Initiatives:

1. Education:
   • Gifting of 2000 laptops to school students.
2. Overseas Indian Community:
   • Extension of OCI Card facility up to 6th generation of Indian diaspora members (previously up to 4th generation).
3. Healthcare Initiatives:
   • Artificial limb fitment camp for 800 people over 50 days.
   • Gift of 20 Hemodialysis units and 2 sea ambulances.
   • Specialised medical treatment for 10 dignitaries in accredited Indian hospitals (Rs 1 crore per annum).
4. Renewable Energy:
   • Solarisation of T&T Ministry of Foreign and Caricom Affairs headquarters with rooftop PV panels.
5. Cultural Cooperation:
   • Celebration of Geeta Mahotsav at Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Cultural Cooperation, Port of Spain.
   • Training of 10 pundits from T&T and Caribbean region in India.
6. Bilateral Agreements (MoUs Signed – 6 Total):
   • Indian Pharmacopoeia: Improved access to Indian pharmaceutical products.
   • Grant for Quick Impact Projects (QIP) to strengthen development cooperation.
   • Cooperation in sports.
   • Cooperation in diplomatic training.
   • Re-establishment of ICCR Chairs for Hindi and Indian Studies at University of the West Indies (UWI).
   • Programme of Cultural Exchanges (2025-2028).
