Government Approves New Agricultural Scheme – In News
- On 16th July 2025, the Government approved a new agricultural scheme targeting 100 low-performing agricultural districts.
- The scheme has a provision of ₹24,000 crore annual expenditure for 6 years.
- Objectives:
- Increase agricultural productivity
- Promote crop diversification
- Improve irrigation and storage facilities
- Ensure credit availability for farmers
- The scheme focuses on agriculture and allied activities.
- It aims to integrate and saturate 36 schemes across 11 ministries, ensuring convergence.
- Expected to directly benefit 1.7 crore farmers.
- District-level plans will be prepared by district officials, in collaboration with agricultural universities and NITI Aayog.
- Use of Kisan App and a District Ranking System will ensure transparency, accountability, and monitoring through a digital dashboard.
