🔹 Key Highlights:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the commissioning of India’s first Make-in-India Green Hydrogen Plant in the port sector at Kandla (Deendayal Port), Gujarat.
In a social media post, the PM called it a “commendable effort championing sustainability and powering our Net-Zero vision.”
With this, Kandla becomes the first Indian port to house a megawatt-scale indigenous green hydrogen facility.
🔹 Project Details:
The plant was inaugurated by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
It was developed in just four months and marks the first module of a larger 10 MW Green Hydrogen project announced in May 2025.
The current module has an annual production capacity of 140 metric tonnes of green hydrogen.
The plant is fully engineered and developed by Indian engineers, reinforcing the goal of Aatma-Nirbhar Bharat in the clean energy sector.
It is part of Deendayal Port Authority’s broader green initiative, following the earlier launch of India’s first Make-in-India electric Green Tug.

Positions Gujarat as a frontrunner in renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure.
Strengthens India's commitment toward Net Zero Emissions and its leadership in green port and maritime infrastructure.
