Sabarimala Temple Opens Today for Pooja, To Remain Open Till October 22

The Sabarimala Temple in Kerala opened this evening for monthly pooja rituals and will remain open till October 22.
The temple’s opening marks the beginning of the Thulam month pooja in the Malayalam calendar, a significant event attracting thousands of devotees from across the country.
Extensive security and administrative arrangements have been made by the Kerala Police and Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) to ensure smooth conduct of the rituals.
The visit of President Droupadi Murmu to the Sabarimala shrine on October 22 has prompted heightened security protocols, with officials coordinating movement and crowd management measures.
The TDB has emphasized strict adherence to cleanliness, crowd control, and environmental protection in the ecologically sensitive Periyar Tiger Reserve area where the temple is located.
Pilgrims are advised to follow the online virtual queue system for darshan bookings and to maintain traditional austerities before their pilgrimage.
The opening precedes the Mandala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season, which begins in mid-November and witnesses lakhs of devotees visiting Lord Ayyappa’s shrine.
