Context:

The Ministry of Railways has launched SwaRail, a super-app designed to consolidate multiple services of Indian Railways into a single digital platform. Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), the app is currently in beta testing, allowing users to provide feedback before the full-scale launch.Key Features:

  • Ticketing Services: Reserved, unreserved, and platform ticket bookings.
  • Parcel & Freight Enquiries: Users can track and manage parcels.
  • PNR & Train Status Enquiries: Real-time updates on trains and bookings.
  • Food Orders: Passengers can order meals during journeys.
  • Rail Madad Integration: Facilitates complaint registration and grievance redressal.
  • Unified Platform: Consolidates services from IRCTC RailConnect, UTS Mobile App, and other railway portals.
  • Single Sign-On (SSO): Users can access all services with a single login, including biometric authentication and m-PIN.
  • R-Wallet Integration: Facilitates seamless transactions and links existing wallets from previous apps.
