Uttar Pradesh takes major leap in SDG index, climbs from 29th to 18th rank

Ranking Improvement: UP moved from 29th to 18th nationally in the SDG Index, rising from the ‘Performer’ to ‘Front Runner’ category.
Score Improvement: Increased by 25 points, from 42 (2018-19) to 67 (2023-24). This is the most improved performance among Indian states.
CM Statement: Yogi Adityanath called it a landmark achievement, attributing it to:
- Focused policy decisions
- Efficient implementation of schemes
- Public participation
Key Contributing Schemes:
- Har Ghar Jal, Har Ghar Bijli (basic utilities)
- Kanya Sumangala, Mission Shakti (women & girls empowerment)
- Poshan Abhiyan, Mukhyamantri Arogya Yojana (health & nutrition)
- Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (housing)
- Mission Kayakalp, ODOP (other development initiatives)
