DIGITAL INDIA, AI & LANGUAGE TECHNOLOGY
The BHASHINI Initiative was launched in July 2022 under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. It is an AI-powered national language translation mission supporting 22 scheduled Indian languages for voice-to-voice and text-to-text translation. As of early 2026, it supports 36 text languages and has expanded to 57 total languages (22 Indian + 35 foreign).VoicERA (2026) is an open-source, modular, interoperable voice AI stack built on BHASHINI. It follows a multi-stakeholder model involving:

Adi-Vaani focuses on tribal language preservation, supporting Santali, Bhili, Mundari, Gondi.
